Fire Stop Wildfire Protection Modules (WPM) offer services to provide communities, associations, insurance companies and municipalities with a comprehensive approach to Private Wildfire Protection. The Fire Stop WPM system augments your current 911 fire service authority, the difference is we focus 100% on Wildfire Protection. Fire Stop is not subject to mutual aid agreements, we do not respond to 911 calls and is at YOUR exclusive service 24/7 for Private Wildfire Protection. Our services are organized and executed by Wildfire Protection Modules. A Fire Stop WPM consists of 1 Wildland Fire Engine, 1 Chipper and 1 Tow Vehicle and 4 Firefighters conducting:

  • 40 hours a week of prevention work

  • Monitoring local fire conditions and fire radio traffic

  • Pre-Positioning during Red Flag Warning days

  • Gel Based Structure Protection

  • Spirit of Cooperation with local authorities

  • Specialized Teams of Experienced Wildland Firefighters.

Wildfire Protection Modules are part of a 6 point approach to providing the very best in Private Wildfire Protection.

1.  Consultation

The first line of defense in fighting wildfire is prepared months in advance of seeing flames. A consultation with our client is the very first step in our approach to Private Wildfire Protection. We will send a specialized team of Professional Firefighting Consultants to analyze and offer a custom plan incorporating the WPM "Wildfire Protection Module" to mount a preemptive defense against wildfire damage to residents, communities and insurance companies from uncontrolled wildfire loss. Consult with our team of professionals to acquire private wildfire protection for your Fire-prone community that go beyond existing emergency fire response.

2.  Hazardous Fuels Reduction

Fighting fire starts 6 months prior to seeing any flame. Our WPM Firefighters work 40 hours a week at creating Fire Breaks which means eliminating hazardous, fire prone vegetation. It is this “fuel” or vegetation which allows flame fronts to move seamlessly across the landscape. We have an impressive array of heavy equipment and dedicated staff committed to creating clean and tasteful fire breaks. Our expert staff knows fire behavior very well. By predicting how fire might spread and threaten a community, we can take pro-active measures and anticipate the location of needed fire breaks. Typically these fire breaks are in canyons, on ridge tops and anywhere fire might make a “run” to communities and structures. Think of this as creating a “moat” around your community where fire has a very hard time penetrating.

3.  Creation of Defensible Space

In addition to creating fire breaks around the community we also take a personal approach to individual homes or properties. In accordance to California Public Resource Code 4291 we create a 100ft Defensible Space around each home in our contracted area. Every Firefighter is trained to make split second decisions about homes that are savable and those that are not. They base these decisions largely due to the conditions surrounding individual homes such as presence of Defensible Space or not in a wildfire. Fire Stop has 19 years of experience creating Defensible Space, this is accomplished by our WPM fire professionals. Our Firefighters work 40 hours a week doing fire prevention, it is an essential part of our approach to successfully protecting lives and properties.

4.  Exclusive Use Engine Fleet

We are a private company contracted by you. Our services provide your community with an Exclusive Fleet of Wildfire Engines. Our Engines are fully equipped to fight wildland fire AND provide state of the art Gel Based Structure Protection. Fire Stop is not subject to 911 calls, nor are we subject to mutual aid agreements. Mutual Aid is an agreement that your local fire authorities have with neighboring communities. In the event of a catastrophe it is possible that your local Firefighters will be called to aid neighboring communities. We do not leave our contracted area. We become very familiar with the area, we are out in it 40 hours a week providing prevention details through Hazardous Fuel Removal and Creation of Defensible Space. You will contract an Exclusive Use Fleet of prevention fire crews AND Wildfire engines capable of Gel Protection for structures. We are YOUR exclusive protection.

5.  Strategic Pre-Positioning

Our all Firefighter Crews are working diligently in your area or community at not only prevention activities, they are also gaining area familiarization, monitoring fire weather conditions, and monitoring local Fire Authority activity. Each of our WPM Engines comes equipped with mobile computers able to predict fire activity based on current conditions. During times of high fire danger commonly called “Red Flag” days we strategically pre-position our Wildfire Protection Engines in threatened areas. Our Engines are smaller, quicker and more agile than typical urban fire engines, we can position ourselves off the road to allow local fire authorities normal and easy access to streets.

6.  Gel Structure Protection

Once pre-positioned and Wildfire is detected, our Firefighters extend hose lines around structures and completely coat the surfaces with professionally developed Fire Fighting Gel. Gel has proven itself for decades to be one of the most effective substances to save houses or structures against Wildfire. Gel sticks to surfaces and can remain effective for approximately 36 hours and sometimes longer. Gel is environmentally friendly and easy to wash off. Once the structure is protected with Gel, our Firefighters simply move to the next structure in anticipation of the approaching fire.
