Our supervision is training along government guidelines and works in accordance with the Incident Command System.

With the increased demands on FIRE STOP's services, it was necessary to start an in-house training program. When Ron Dougherty came on board in 1994, his first assignment was to oversee FIRE STOP's training program and bring it up to speed using NWCG curriculum. Since that time, FIRE STOP has broadened its training to include other contract fire companies along with USFS, BLM and CDF personnel.

In 1998 FIRE STOP started working with Central Sierra ROP management/staff and started the Central Sierra Fire Tech Program, which is held in Placerville, CA. This fire training program leans heavily towards wildland fire fighting and covers NWCG courses S-130, S-190, I-100, S-201, S-211, S-212A, S-230, S-231, S-234 and S-290. Additional courses are California Fire Fighter I, EMS First Responder, CPR and CDF HazMat FRO. In addition, the Central Sierra Fire Tech Program offers special courses in Prescribed Burning. The cadre of 7 credentialed instructors allows for an experts in each of the above fields.
